• It’s time to warm up your bats and gloves–Frazier Mountain Little League is holding try-outs and registration, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., at Tejon Fields (4265 Lebec Road, Lebec).

• Fort Tejon’s Frontier Army Days will focus on the U.S. Infantry at Fort Tejon in 1864, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Come to learn about the life of a Civil War soldier through a living history demonstration; $5 for adults, $2 for ages 7-17 (children 6 and under, free). Bring a picnic lunch (the park has no concessions) and enjoy the tables under the big oak trees (4201 Fort Tejon Road, Lebec, about 5 miles north on the Interstate 5, off at the Fort Tejon exit).

• A Celebration of Life for Richard Hoegh is 1-3 p.m. at Frazier Mountain High School. Come to say thanks and good-bye, meet the family and friends and share a celebration of a unique man who devoted himself to helping improve the quality of life here.

• Community Classics Readers will perform The Importance of Being Earnest, a hilarious Oscar Wilde play, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library meeting room. Everyone is invited join in the fun. It is free and friendly.

• ’Journeys in Pastel’ by Pine Mountain artist Jill Hackett with images of Gorman and Pine Mountain are showcased this month at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Newhall (24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall). Reception is 5-7 p.m. (www.pjhackett.com). No RSVP needed. See story on page 10.

Soccer Senior Night at Frazier Mountain High School Falcon Field (3 p.m. girls,
5 p.m. boys). All seniors and their families will be honored. Both teams are contenders for the High Desert League top spot. Come out to cheer them on.

• B&B Materials of Lebec will be before the Kern County Planning Commission, 7 p.m., for alleged noncompliance with the conditional use permit (CUP) for the sand and gravel operation on Frazier Mountain Park Road.
