INCIDENT CLEARED—Vehicle rollover on northbound I-5 becomes fatality

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 6:38 p.m.)—The #1 lane (fast lane) on northbound I-5 will be closed from Tejon Pass to Grapevine, while the scene is cleared.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 6:37 p.m.)—Kern County Coroner’s office has been notified and is en route.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.)—CHP reports that northbound traffic is backing up to the Lebec curve [near KCFD Station 56].

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 6:12 p.m.)—The injured occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased at 6:11 p.m. by Kern County Fire Department personnel.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 5:48 p.m.)—The incident commander at the scene reports that CPR is in progress for the occupant of the vehicle.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 5:45 p.m.)—A rescue is underway for the occupant(s) of the rolled-over vehicle. A medevac helicopter is enroute. CHP is slowing traffic with breaks. Kern County Fire Department engines 56, 55 and 357 are on-scene.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.)—A single vehicle rollover on northbound Interstate 5 ignited a small grass fire that was extinguished by a CHP officer near the west truck escape ramp. The vehicle went over the northbound center divider and partially onto the southbound fast lane and median area.
