LEBEC (Wednesday, Sept. 22, 12:18 a.m.)—You may have seen those logs poking into the sky as you get near the Frazier Park onramp to the I-5 and wondered about it. Or maybe you’ve heard about it and thought, "Well, when will it be done?"

Now you can help answer that question yourself. The Gateway to the Mountain Communities’ vistors’ plaza needs you! This is where the interactive visitors’ kiosk, giant suspended condor sculptue and information about ecotourism on the mountain are going to be available. County grants and community volunteers have nearly completed the project, but a final volunteer push is needed now to put the project over the finish line.

If you have any building, construction skills, electrical knowledge, natural landscaping, stone wall building skills, gardening know-how or coordination savvy—or if you just want to offer a helpful hand and moral support to a worthy community project—please come to a construction meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the northeast corner of the Flying J—the intersection of Frazier Mountain Park Road and Peace Valley Road. You can park in the "J’s" parking lot near the site. 

Gerry Garcia says he will help put in a brick wall; Max Williams said he will help with designing the shade structures. Mike Berg, project coordinator, says he is going to L.A. County to secure the permit for the re-designed California condor sculpture to be mounted on its 40-foot log pole trapeze. Please come be part of something historic as this area kicks off its visibility as an ecotourism destination.
