Boil Water order in effect after Lebec Water line break shuts down service for most of Monday

LEBEC, CA (Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at 8:30 p.m.)—Following repair of the Circle Drive broken water line, elements of a fire hydrant on Canyon Drive burst when re-pressurized, sending a flood of water down the roadway. Kern County Fire Department Station 56 Captain Riley said his crews responded and closed off the valves at the hydrant, located just west of Lebec Road. The section of Lebec’s water district comprising about 100 customers remained under a Boil Water order Monday night awaiting confirmation from state health department officials that the water is free from contaminants before the order can be lifted.

LEBEC, CA (Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at 1:15 p.m.)—A break in a four-inch line at 800 Circle Drive has shut down water service to central Lebec. The shutdown affects homes and businesses bordered on the south by the county “gravel yard,” on the north by Canyon Drive, all customers to the west and all to the east. Approximately 100 water customers have been affected, according to Lebec County Water District President Michael Hightower. Hightower said the line should be repaired by the end of today. A “Boil Water” notice will be issued when the line has been repaired and will be in effect until withdrawn, Hightower said.
