Ten comedians for $10… that's a dollar per comedian!

“Comedy is a science,” says Carey Moulder, 22.

He graduated from Frazier Mountain High School, then went to Europe to find his fortune. He’s returning to the Mountain Communities with a line-up of 10 stand-up comedians for Fiesta Days this Saturday, Aug. 8 at 8 p.m.

Moulder says he expects it will be an edgy show, “a little bit blue,” for those 18 and over. Several of the comics are from the 805 Comedy Underground, based in Ventura and Santa Barbara, as is Moulder.

“Comedy has been in my blood since I was 6 years old,” he said in an interview this week, as he described the comics he is bringing in for the Comedy Corner show:

Alex Wells does characters and “fast deadpan” comedy; he just returned from four years in the U.S. Army and a deployment. Now he is turning it into laughs.

Cat Wagner, from Santa Barbara, “is really good. She will be famous one day. She is Latina, with a few things to say about women’s rights, though she might not like me saying it like that,” Moulder said.

Terrance Washington  is a founding member of the 805 Comedy Underground. Originally from Mississippi, he also was a regular at the Ventura Harbor Comedy Club. “Terrance brings a confronting, realistic point of view on relationships and politics, plus he works with the crowd,” Moulder added.

Blane Laramie is old school cool, loves rock ‘n’ roll and is host of the Blane Laramie podcast. He is a regular at the Comedy Store and is active in the 805 Comedy Underground.

William Buescher, “Is like every single, 45 year old famous comic…but he’s 25…,” Carey said.
Phil Kemp “is a musical comedian; he plays the guitar, banjo and harmonica along with his jokes—the schmiegel blues.” He’s from Bakersfield, via Santa Barbara.

You may recognize Seth Golden and Tommy Natoli, both working in Hollywood now, and both from Frazier Park, Moulder said. Andrew Boydston is also from the hot spot just north of us. The comic grapevine says he’s really funny.
