What an Amazing Place to Love Living!

Memorial Weekend is Cornucopia of Fun

One glorious Memorial weekend on the mountain brought appreciative crowds for an endless list of exciting events.

The Ridge Ridge Route Run Classic Car Show was a stunning success with 130 cars delighting the crowds. Steve Hill’s band provided the music.

The King of the Mountain Heartbreak One Hundred bicycle race circled the entire Mountain Community, from Lebec to Pine Mountain to Cuyama and back through Lockwood Valley. Steve Catena set a new course record of 5 hours 11 minutes.

The American Jousting Alliance Tournament offered a great family show complete with Avian Entertainment’s falconry and fun activities for the kids. At the  Tournament, Joel Robinson of Naturalist-For-You plays harmonica with a young fan. Joe Suffredini’s Avian Entertainment wowed the crowd and 17th century Hussars Rik Fox, Tara Fox, Whitney Aragon and Patrick Sokol were fierce.

The season’s first Concert on the Greens in Pine Mountain was serenaded by the Jumpin’ Joz jazz ensemble and nourished with delicious barbecue.

If that were not enough, Saturday was also Senior Prom night for Frazier Mountain High School. Frazier Mountain High School Senior Sara Woerter gets ready for the prom with the help of her family. Mom Belinda coaches her on applying the cobalt blue nail polish that will match her dress. Belinda has created a handmade necklace of blue sparkling crystals for the occasion. Then, dad Larry helps his Cinderella put on her shoes as she prepares for the big night.

On Monday, the Veterans of Foreign Wars hosted a solemn ceremony in Frazier Mountain Park at the Cody Prosser Memorial to honor those who sacrificed their lives for this beautiful country.
