When should a death threat be taken seriously?

Something that no one would ever want to experience is a threat made against their life. It can have serious consequences, including physical and mental-emotional health problems, job insecurity and disruption in one’s family life.

Frazier Park resident Steve Berry called The Mountain Enterprise on Monday, March 27, to report he had been threatened by a man who said he was going to shoot Berry.

We immediately asked him whether he had reported the threat to Kern County Sheriff’s Office and he confirmed he had reported it Monday morning, March 20.

Berry said the threat was made on Saturday, March 18, at the home of recently-deceased Gilbert Tarr.

He said he and his son were at the home to provide Michael de Villers—who has been living at the house—with gasoline for a power generator. The house does not currently have electrical service.

According to Berry, he and de Villers were standing outside the house when three men came down the driveway. One man, who he believes was named…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)
