Six years ago, when Frazier Park residents learned that their use of wood burning stoves was to be restricted, a four-day petition campaign produced 1,721 signatures—along with a reversal by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) board for residents here.

The board decided on December 18, 2008 to allow the greater Frazier Mountain Community to stand as its own air quality forecast area, because the readings in this area were well below the thresholds that typically triggered restrictions for Bakersfield. The Mountain Communities have been able to avoid ‘no-burn days,’ until now.
