Falcons Win Tournament in Hard-Charging Week of FMHS Basketball

UPDATE- LEBEC, CA (Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at   6:41 a.m.)—Jerry Quick, announcer for Frazier Mountain High School sports events, submitted this breaking news bulletin:

The Lady Falcons basketball team won the 4th annual Falcon Classic, defeating Hillcrest Christian from Simi Valley, 52-50, in an exciting game at Frazier Mountain High School, Saturday night.

The Falcons jumped out to a 13-0 lead on crisp passing from Heather Henderson, Alexa Puga, and Angel McNeeley, that led to baskets inside by Jessica Pilgram and Katy Teare. The team led 33-22 at halftime.

The Eagles came back in the second half behind strong 3-point shooting to make the game close down the stretch, but the Lady Falcons held on for the two-point victory to win the tournament for the first time.

Jessica Pilgram scored a game-high 21 points. Angel McNeeley was named to the All-Tournament team, and Katie Teare was voted MVP.

UPDATE—LEBEC, CA (Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at 8:20 a.m.)—Jerry Quick reports that the girls’ basketball team is also making dazzling moves. Here’s his report:

The Frazier Mountain High School Varsity Girls’ basketball team advanced to the championship game of the 4th annual Falcon Classic Tournament with wins over Desert Christian, 49-7, and Bethel Christian, 43-16 on Friday night.

The Falcons will play defending champion Hillcrest Christian at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the championship game. Consolation games will be going on all day Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. at the FMHS gym.

The community is welcome to attend and watch some good high school basketball. There will be a snack bar available as well, that helps provide funding for the teams Find a $1 discount coupon for entry tickets on page 28 of this week’s issue of

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at 9:45 p.m.)–Intern reporter Tony Levesque reports that on Thursday, Dec. 1, the FMHS boys varsity basketball team beat Providence Hall Lions of Santa Barbara in overtime, 61-54. On Friday, Dec. 2, the Falcon boys team pulled off another victory against Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals, 40-32.

The Next Game

The next game will be away against Shafter, next Monday, Dec. 5. The month is also full of tournaments for Frazier Mountain High School. The next home game will be held in January.
