The Lancer fire burned 50 acres this week while threatening homes in Lebec’s Los Padres Estates. The blaze started July 8 at about 3:30 p.m. Over 200 firefighters fought to contain the fire with three fixed-wing tankers, three helicopters, bulldozers and engines. According to Kern County Fire Department Public Information Officer Leland Davis, the Lancer fire was fully controlled by 8 a.m. Monday, July 9. No homes were lost, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
