3.7 Magnitude Quake Felt in Mountain Communities

FRAZIER PARK (October 25, 2010, 7 a.m.)—Monday, October 25 at 06:45:36 a.m. a magnitude 3.7 quake was recorded by computers at the U.S. Geological Survey data gathering center. The epicenter was near the Frazier Mountain Communities, one mile NNW from Mettler. The coordinates are 35.071°N, 118.975°W. The computer reading reports a depth of 11.1 miles.

The sensation in Pine Mountain was a "bump and a rumble" that lasted about 3 seconds and sounded like a sonic boom. There was no structural damage or disturbance of hanging objects.—Reported by Patric Hedlund
