Lebec, Frazier Park, Cuddy Valley, Lockwood Valley, Pine Mountain Club (Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 3:49 p.m.)—Please scroll down to see the forecast for this week. As predicted, the gentle snow globe snow has begun to fall. Here is a bit of discussion from the Hanford NOAA site:
Snowfall will also begin along the Grapevine by this afternoon. Snow levels will begin around 4500 feet and will continue to fall through the day, lowering to around 3000 feet by this evening. One to four inches of snow is expected mainly above 4000 feet, with a dusting to one inch possible down to as low as 3000 feet. Although the amounts are not great at pass level, it will be enough to wet the roads, leading to very icy conditions overnight through Monday morning. Thus,a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Grapevine/Fort Tejon area from noon until 7am Monday morning.
Lebec, Frazier Park, Cuddy Valley, Lockwood Valley, Pine Mountain Club (Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 12:30 p.m.)—A Pine Mountain reader wrote to say he doubted the prediction we put up two hours ago. We interviewed Hanford National Weather Service forecaster David Spector, to confirm that we were not seeing a computer glitch.
Spector said Hanford’s station, predicting for Kern County, uses the standardized forecast builder program. It shows a low pressure system out at sea that is dropping from north to south, bringing moisture toward us from the coast, then,“It is taking a left turn tonight toward Baja California.”
At the moment, from a 300 degree vantage point in Pine Mountain Club, we see a cloud mass that appears to be coming toward us from the south, but that is, Spector said, because it is circling around and pushing in toward us.
The www.windy.com animated modeling tool using satellite imaging shows the low pressure mass is circling in toward our region, as described by Mr. Spector.  [Update from Patric Hedlund, TME Editor]
