The California Department of Education (CDE) released Academic Performance Index (API) scores for schools statewide on Monday, Sept. 13. How did schools in the Mountain Communities perform?

With a recommended target of 800 set by the state, the highest growth in testing scores was achieved by Gorman Elementary School and Pine Mountain Learning Center. Gorman Elementary grew from a score of 679 in 2009 to 784 in 2010—a growth of 105 points.

Pine Mountain Learning Center continued its growth by another 27 points, improving from a 2009 score of 888 to 915 in 2010.

Valley Oaks Charter School climbed 13 points from a 2009 score of 736 to a 2010 score of 749.

Frazier Mountain High School was unchanged with a 2010 of 700. El Tejon Middle School fell 11 points from a 2009 score of 745 to a 2010 score of 734.

Frazier Park Elementary School fell 13 points from a 2009 score of 784 to a 2010 score of 771.

El Tejon Continuation High School had fewer than 11 valid 2010 STAR test scores and could not be calculated, according to CDE.

Gorman Learning Center Charter School fell 10 points from a 2009 score of 696 to a 2010 score of 686.
