Big Rig vs. Pickup Truck Crash Closes Highway 138

UPDATE – NEENACH/FAIRMONT/WEST ANTELOPE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (Monday, January 14, 2013 at 5:45 p.m.)–Highway 138 (Avenue D) is now open to traffic.

UPDATE – NEENACH/FAIRMONT/WEST ANTELOPE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (Monday, January 14, 2013 at 2:10 p.m.)–An officer from the Lancaster CHP office who is on-scene reports that the driver of the white pickup truck is confirmed to be deceased. It could be several hours before the roadway is open to traffic.

NEENACH/FAIRMONT/WEST ANTELOPE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (Monday, January 14, 2013 at 12:25 p.m.)–A head-on collision between a big rig and a pickup truck just before noon has closed Highway 138 in both directions near 150th Street West, according to community reporter Jeff Zimmerman.

Zimmerman provided this report, including an alternate route:

Los Angeles County Fire Department is working a [major traffice accident] on Highway 138 at 150th Street West near Fairmont/ Lancaster CA. Jaws of life are being used to free a trapped victim in a pickup truck that was involved in a head on collision with a semi-truck, possibly a fatal accident scene. Los Angeles County Fire Department Engine Company 78 from Lake Hughes and Engine and Squad 135 from Lancaster are at scene. Highway 138 is closed in both directions at 150th Street. Alternate route is to use 170 Street to Ave I. CHP is at scene investigating the high speed head on crash.
