LEBEC, CA (Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at 7:10 p.m.)—Krista Mutual Water Company’s water manager, Rafael Molina, Jr. reports that the new pump is operational and water quality samples will be taken on Tuesday.  “Hopefully we can lift the boil water notice by Wednesday afternoon,” he wrote in an email just after 7 p.m.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at 9:55 a.m.)—Krista Mutual Water Company’s water manager, Rafael Molina, Jr., reports that Krista began hauling water at 8:30 a.m. using two 3,400 gal. water trucks. Molina wrote: “The pump and motor were pulled from the well and were taken to the well-puller’s yard. A replacement pump will be purchased and installed on Monday (if pump is in stock), by which time water service will be fully restored. The Boil Water notice, however, will remain in effect until water quality samples are taken and come back clean.”

As Molina had stated on Saturday, the Boil Water notice may remain in effect until Wednesday or Thursday.

LEBEC, CA (Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at 3:15 p.m.)—Krista Mutual Water Company’s water manager, Rafael Molina, Jr., has notified The Mountain Enterprise of a well pump failure in Los Padres Estates (LPE). Molina said the pump at Krista’s only well failed at about 12 noon today. The submersible pump is located about 42 feet down inside the 250-foot well.

“A boil water notice will be issued shortly [see below] and could be in effect through Wednesday or Thursday, Sept. 10-11,” Molina said. The notice has been posted. See below.

Molina said that about 200 connections in Los Padres Estates are affected. The pump failure does not point to any problems with water levels, Molina said. It is only a pump failure.
