LEBEC, CA; May 22, 2008; 5:03 p.m.—A bomb threat was made against the Flying J C-Store in Lebec at 4:45 p.m. this afternoon.

According to Manager Christina Bradley, a female caller said, "There’s a bomb in your drivers’ lounge." Bradley says her attendant had to ask the woman to repeat the comment, which the caller did, then hung up the phone.

The manager called L.A. County Sheriff’s dispatch and cleared the building. Law enforcement arrived on-scene while The Mountain Enterprise was taking this report. Sheriff’s deputies looked thoroughly through the building. They were unable to find evidence of any suspicious article on the premises, Bradley reported.

When asked how she felt about the report,  Bradley said,"I thought: ‘this is ridiculous’; I’m a very rational person and I’ll stay rational until proven wrong." Employees returned to their posts and service was resumed to customers by 5:30 p.m.

Bradley said that there was an earlier bomb scare, two years ago, but that one was from a male caller.
