Crashed Big Rigs Cleared on Southbound I-5, before Castaic

UPDATE; CASTAIC, California (Monday, July 12, 2010, 4 p.m.)–Sigalert was canceled at 3:39 p.m. All lanes are open.

UPDATE; CASTAIC, California (Monday, July 12, 2010, 2 p.m.)–The Sigalert has been extended to 4 p.m. An alternate route is to get off at Templin Hwy, go east (left) to The Old Ridge Route and go south into Castaic. The number 2, 3 and 4 lanes are blocked again for teardown of one of the big rigs.

UPDATE; CASTAIC, California (Monday, July 12, 2010, 11:45 a.m.)–The Sigalert has been extended to 2 p.m. An alternate route is to get off at Templin Hwy, go east (left) to The Old Ridge Route and go south into Castaic.

UPDATE; CASTAIC, California (Monday, July 12, 2010, 10:35 a.m.)–The Sigalert has been extended to 12 noon. An alternate route is to get off at Templin Hwy, go east (left) to The Old Ridge Route and go south into Castaic.

CASTAIC, California (Monday, July 12, 2010, 8:30 a.m.)–Two big rigs collided on the southbound Interstate 5 before 6 a.m. leaving one big rig on fire. A Sigalert was issued at 6:29 a.m. All lanes were blocked for a time, but at 8:23 a.m. the number 1 and 2 lanes were opened. Estimated time for openeing remaining lanes is between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Ambulances have responded to the scene.
