Harriet Drive Incident Sends Woman to Hospital

Frazier Park (Tuesday, July 13, 2010, 4:30 p.m.)—On Monday, July 12, 2010, at about 3 p.m., deputies from the Frazier Park substation were dispatched to the 2900 block of Harriet Drive in Frazier Park to investigate a woman attempting to commit suicide by overdosing on prescription medication.

According to the press release by deputies, when they arrived, they saw the woman walking toward ambulance personnel swinging an aluminum bat at them. The deputies ordered the woman to stop. She walked toward one of them swinging the bat at the deputy and yelling for him to shoot her because she wanted to die, the release states. The deputy deployed his Taser electronic control device, disarmed the woman and safely took her into custody.

The woman was transported to a Bakersfield hospital via ambulance and placed on a 72- hour mental evaluation hold for her protection.
