Curly Soars Into his 95th Birthday

Lebec’s Merrill ‘Curly’ Baughman took his first soaring ride at age 95 in a WWII Schweizer TG-2 Trainer on Saturday, July 16 in Tehachapi. Josh Knerr, son of Neenach resident Paul Knerr (a longtime friend of Baughman’s) piloted. Curly is a Kern County Sheriff’s volunteer and board member for Krista Water Company in Los Padres Estates. How’s he doing? Merrill answers quickly: “I’ve never had it so good!”
