Falcons vanquish defending CIF Division 6 champs

LANCASTER, CA (Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 5:20 p.m.)—There was great excitement in Lancaster this afternoon for Frazier Mountain baseball fans. On Tuesday, May 21 the Frazier Mountain High School’s Dream Team won their playoff game against defending CIF champions, Desert Christian High School.

Coach Jerry Quick was whooping with excitement as he summarized the tough match. “It was a close game,” he said, “3-2 and then 4-3 and then we held them off in the last inning to win 7-3!”
In state CIF rankings, Desert Christian is ranked at No. 18 and FMHS as No. 19. In state rankings, before today, the Knights were 212 and the Falcons 214.  The Falcons won the High Desert League championship this season for the first time in the school’s history.

Quick said that he is awaiting the outcome of another CIF Division 6 playoff match to know where the Friday playoff game will be held. “If Sierra Canyon wins this afternoon, we will have a home game on Friday; if Capistrano Valley wins, there will be a coin toss and we may be going to San Juan Capistrano.” The coin toss would be tomorrow at 10 a.m. The Mountain Enterprise will report about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday about the location for the Friday playoff game.

LEBEC, CA (Monday, May 20, 2013 at 2 p.m.)—The High Desert League champion baseball team will be playing Division 6 defending champions Tuesday, May 21 in Lancaster. The Falcons meet the  Desert Christian Knights in neutral territory at  Rawley Duntley Park tomorrow at 3:15pm. The address is 3334 West Ave. K.

This team has made history by being the first FMHS baseball team to win the High Desert League championship. Fans are encouraged to attend tomorrow’s game.

LEBEC, CA (Friday, May 17 at 7:45 p.m)—Just two days after the Grand fire threatened Frazier Mountain High School, the first league champs for baseball in Falcon history hosted their first playoff game at FMHS. Coach Jerry Quick reports: “We won our playoff game tonight  over The Academy of Academic Excellence out of Victorville by a score of 14-7. We will await the winner of the [game between] Desert Christian (the defending champs) and St. Genevieve….” The next game will be played on Tuesday. The location will be announced shortly.
