INCIDENT COMPLETED: Fire burning near Sawmill Mountain above PMC

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Friday, Oct. 30, 2020 at 11:50 a.m.)—Los Padres National Forest officials provided the following information to The Mountain Enterprise this morning:

“The Nettle Incident was reported this morning at 8:01 am by Ventura County Fire Patrol 16. The fire is less than 2 acres and burning around Sawmill Mountain in heavy timber and into light grass in USFS jurisdiction. It is accessible only by hiking in or helicopter. We have our Air Attack over the incident and did a couple of air tanker drops on it this morning. Current resources working the incident include Helicopter 528, three engines, a crew, a patrol along with assets from VCF and Kern Co Fire. Suppression efforts will have it mopped up and out today.”

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Friday, Oct. 30, 2020 at 10:22 a.m.)—Dip tanks at Fern’s Lake in PMC, Lockwood Valley and Pinon Pines are being used to fill helicopters.

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Friday, Oct. 30, 2020 at 8:49 a.m.)—Fire crews are working on a fire near Sawmill Mountain, located above Pine Mountain Club. Kern County Helicopter 408 is currently filling up at a water dip tank in Pinon Pines. Access to the fire on the ground is from the Mt. Pinos parking area (Nordic Base), over the Mt. Pinos summit and two miles farther west to Sawmill Mountain.
