LAKE OF THE WOODS, CA (Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 11:30 a.m.)— The full story will be published in The Mountain Enterprise newspaper Thursday morning. For now, just a factual update: The first small house where the fire started and the larger, neighboring house were both destroyed.

LAKE OF THE WOODS, CA (Friday, July 3, 2020 at 9:33 p.m.)— A house fire on Friday evening destroyed a home in Lake of the Woods.

Frazier Park resident Kerry Keiser was a witness to the event. This is from his account: “I arrived to find a quite large house fire engulfing the structure. I kept a safe distance and watched as first responders arrived. Sadly it appeared to me that at least one house was destroyed and this is horrible. I could not begin to put myself and family in that situation. However at least one glowing light was clearly evident at this scene. Within five to eight minutes, not only were there four Kern County Sheriff’s deputies, and two California Highway Patrol officers, three Los Padres National Forest fire fighting trucks were there with their auxiliary vehicles and two trucks from Kern County Fire Department Station 57. They had the fire out soon.”
