Fire erupts on Mt. Piños, protection for Nordic Base requested

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Aug. 12 at 11:55 a.m.)—Preliminary reports indicate that crews have established a line around the fire and expect containment in about 30 minutes. According to Mountain Enterprise editor Patric Hedlund, who is in Pine Mountain, there are two tankers flying over the fire.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Aug. 12 at 11:40 a.m.)—Many thanks to community reporters Nancy Dudley, Carey Carpenter, Douglas Page and Mary Forbes who sent in Breaking News reports.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Aug. 12 at 11:35 a.m.)—A fire broke out on Mt. Piños before 11:30 a.m. Kern County Fire Department is responding with helicopter 408. Structure protection has been requested for Nordic Base which is on the edge of Chula Vista parking lot at the top of Mt. Piños Road.
