Fire South of Templin Hwy Is Now Over 50% Contained– Traffic Is Flowing Again

INTERSTATE 5 ( Thursday, July 11 at 5:15 p.m.)— The Castaic fire, also being referred to on social media as the Templin fire is a 15 acre brush fire started by a car engulfed in flames at about 5 p.m. Thursday, July 11. Los  Angeles County and the US Forest Service sent quick response teams along with two helicopters doing water drops near Templin Highway along Northbound I-5.

The Durocher family was able to arrive in Lebec before 6 p.m., though two northbound lanes were closed, with firefighters and equipment in the closed lanes. It appears the fire is now over 50% contained.

INTERSTATE 5 ( Thursday, July 11 at 5:07 p.m.)— Traffic Backs up I-5 North Bumper to Bumper

Mountain Community motorists are calling in to say that the northbound Interstate 5 is backed up, bumper to bumper, south of Templin Highway due to fire. A.J. and Francis Durocher of Pine Mountain Club report helicopters making water drops on vigorous smoke plume.
