For the Record

In last week’s June 29 edition, in a page 2 cutline beneath a photograph of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church’s annual community barbecue, we wrote that John Cavey had donated the tri-tip and the chicken for the event. In fact, Cavey donated tri-tip and beer. "The church buys the chicken and all the other food not donated by parishioners that is served at the event," according to cochair Michelle Maga.

Dana Edwards of Lebec called with a comment regarding a story published in the June 22 issue titled "Allegations Made Against Mike Berg for Wood Gathering Activities in Forest." The subtitle on that story said "Investigation Underway, No Citation Has Been Issued." Edwards noted that we reported he had filed two complaints (about two months ago) alleging that Berg may have violated terms of wood cutting permits issued by the U.S. Forest Service.

In fact, he says, he phoned in observations on two separate occasions, took notes and asked that forest service personnel be sent out to investigate.
