Frazier Park Estates Hearing Delayed to Aug. 27

FRAZIER PARK, Calif. (Friday, July 31, 2009, 12:30 p.m.) Lorelei Oviatt of Kern County Planning Department has confirmed that the hearing before the Planning Commission regarding the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for Frazier Park Estates, originally scheduled for August 13, has been postponed to Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.

In a letter to “interested parties” dated July 30, Oviatt says that "…CEQA [California Environmental Quality Act] Guidelines requires that written response to all comments by a public agency on the draft EIR be provided at least 10 days before certification of the Final EIR. Certification of a Final EIR occurs at the board of Supervisors hearing, and the Planning Commission is taking testimony and making a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on that certification.

“The Planning Department’s policy is to provide a copy of Chapter 7 Response to comments, which completes the Final EIR, at least two weeks before the Planning Commission hearing… Therefore the Final EIR will be completed prior to the Planning Commission hearing and comments can then be submitted on the responses and Final EIR to both the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.”

If you wish to submit comments or have questions, contact Lorelei Oviatt at (661)862-8866, or via email at Loreleio@co.kern.ca.us.
