A Frazier Park home burned in the early hours of Saturday morning, Feb. 3.

According to the homeowner, Jesse Hurst, the blaze at 3121 Harriet Road started at approximately 2:15 a.m. somewhere in the garage.

After his wife and five children were safely out of the house, Hurst called the fire department at about 2:30 a.m.

One dog and eight puppies also escaped unharmed.

“It took them a little over an hour to knock down the flames,” Hurst said on Saturday as friends helped move the family’s possessions out of the charred structure.

The cause of the fire was unknown at press time. The home, built by Martin Brothers Development, had been completed in October of 2005.

Asked whether he will rebuild, Hurst replied, “I really don’t know what we’re going to do.” He responded to this reporter’s offer of sympathy for the loss of his home, saying, “Yes…well, it’s part of life.”
