Sweetheart Deal Helps Local Children And Mountain Business

By Linda MacKay

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and the Boys & Girls Club of Frazier Mountain is sending out our love and appreciation to all the Mountain Communities for the tremendous support we’ve received since we opened our doors in 2006.

This Valentine’s Day the Boys & Girls Club will be partnering with several local merchants as we did last year for Valentine’s Day.

It’s a Sweetheart Deal that helps our club raise funds to buy supplies and support scholarships for the children at the club. On February 14 several local businesses have agreed to give a percentage of their sales that day to the Boys & Girls Club.

We encourage community members to come out and shop at your favorite local businesses on Valentine’s Day. In the next two weeks we will be publishing a list of the local participating businesses in The Mountain Enterprise.

Look for that list and make a special effort to spend a little money to support our local businesses and our local club too.

There are other ways community members can be a Boys & Girls Club Valentine all year long. We are always looking for volunteers at the club and/or at our club’s Name Your Price thrift store.

We’d love to have your recyclables, cash donations or donations of gently used items at the thrift store. Our club runs on a tight budget and every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference in what we can offer the children at the club.

If you would like more information on our Sweetheart Deal, or any other aspect of the Boys & Girls Club of Frazier Mountain, please contact me, the club’s board president, Linda MacKay, at (661) 747-3062.

This is part of the January 30, 2009 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
