This paper, today, is the first edition of Volume 42 of The Mountain Enterprise. We want to take a moment to thank the readers and the advertisers who have made it possible for the Starship Enterprise to navigate across so many years, touching so many lives.

One of the most enjoyable things about being part of a community institution that is entering its 42nd year of service, is that after all this time, the service we provide week in and week out is still very personal.

We love the way that the readers of this mountain participate in making The Mountain Enterprise a practical partner in reporting news to use as we work together to create and maintain a very special way of life in the Mountain Communities.

People here are deeply involved in constantly working to make this a better, safer, kinder and more beautiful place to live. We are grateful and honored to be your local newspaper, independently owned, locally based, totally dedicated and accountable to the people who live here.
