Tragedy Strikes Arizona Firefighters

Yarnell, AZ (Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 8:30 p.m.)—It has been reported tonight, Sunday, that 19 firefighters, most from Prescott, AZ, have been killed by the Yarnell Hill wildfire that has also destroyed about 250 houses in the town of Yarnell, in central Arizona. Initial reports from official sources indicate the firefighters had deployed their fire shelters, but all were deceased and not all were in their shelters.First reports say the suspected cause of the fire is lightning.

Drought in the western states have left fuels dry and dangerous this year throughout the west this year. A public facebook page has been established in memory of the firefighters who have died.
