Wildfire breaks out near Grapevine

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015 at 3:01 p.m.)—Fire personnel are searching the Laval Road business parking areas for the white Ford pickup towing a ‘sand rail’ to question them about the start of the Vine fire.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015 at 2:51 p.m.)—The Vine fire was held to .6 acres, according to the incident commander’s report to the Emergency Control Center.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015 at 2:35 p.m.)—Engine 355 reports that the fire has been knocked down. Air tankers have been canceled and Engines 55 and 56 are continuing to the scene while the incident commander assesses the situation. The reporting party stated that the fire  was started by a white Ford pickup truck dragging a pipe and that the pickup left the scene.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015 at 2:18 p.m.)—A wildfire was reported five minutes ago, started by a truck, and has burned about a half of a mile up a hillside, about two miles south of Grapevine on the east side of Interstate 5. Kern County Fire Department has called for Battalions 4 and 5 plus helicopter 408 and air tankers. Engines 55 and 56 are now approaching the scene of the Vine fire.
