LEBEC, CA – On Thursday, August 19, 2010 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department received a call of a hazardous materials spill from a tractor trailer on southbound I-5 at the Fort Tejon off ramp [close ot El Tejon School]. Approximately 20 Kern County fire fighters responded to the incident with assistance from California Highway Patrol, Environmental Health, Cal Trans and KCSO.
Crews arrived on scene of a tractor trailer on the shoulder of the interstate that was leaking fluid. Kern County crews were able to identify the product on scene. The trailer’s cargo was comprised of a flammable liquid and a corrosive liquid.
The Kern County HazMat crew was able to isolate and mitigate the situation. No injuries were reported.
