Marijuana Grow Found Near Mount Pinos

PINE MOUNTAIN (Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, 2:39 p.m.) The following is a dispatch from Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Additional details will be reported when they become available.

On Friday, Sept. 4 at about 7 a.m., deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit with assistance of officers from the Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (C.A.M.P.), located a marijuana grow on U. S. Forest land in the area of Cerro Noroeste Road west of Mount Pinos.

A helicopter was utilized to transport the officers into the area due to the rough terrain. No suspects were located during the operation. Officers located a camp site within the grow containing materials used to maintain the marijuana.
