LEBEC (Friday, July 2, 2010, 8 a.m.)—A car fire at Templin Highway and the Interstate 5 slowed traffic at about 7:30 p.m. last night, July 1. Community Reporter Rick Throckmorton got some photos of the early Fourth of July fireworks. Two lanes of traffic stayed open even as Los Angeles County Fire Department put out the blaze, averting a grasslands fire that could have occurred if there had been wind. We are in fire season, and risk for wildland fire is high. We will report further details as available.
