The vision of smoke rising above homes on the east side of the Pine Mountain community was alarming at first on Friday, March 11—but this is preventive fire break foliage burning by U.S. Forest Service crews.
Pine Mountain (March 11, 2011 at 10 a.m.)–Prescribed burning is being conducted by the U.S. Forest Service in parts of the Pine Mountain community region today. Fire break foliage is being burned while surrounding vegetation is still moist from recent rains.
