Pink Slips to 8 More Teachers

By Patric Hedlund

By March 15, eight more teachers of El Tejon Unified School District will receive pink slips. State law requires they be notified that worsening budget conditions may cause their jobs to be cut. Last year at this time the district lost 13.5 teaching positions. Coach Jarudd Prosser received a notice, along with energetic Drama, Journalism and English Teacher Kat Fair.

ETUSD Trustees voted 4-1 at their February meeting to ask the state assembly to allow a tax extension measure to go before the voters. New Governor Jerry Brown said in his State of the State address that an extension of tax measures is the only way to avoid still deeper slashes to education budgets in California.
