NEWS ALERT: Smoke From Remote Fires Rattles Nerves

FRAZIER PARK, Calif. (Monday, July 7, 2008 at 5 p.m.) — Smoke from coastal and inland fires has prompted numerous calls to The Mountain Enterprise office from mountain residents asking if there are fires burning nearby.

According to Kern County Fire Department’s Public Information Office, there are no reports of wildfires in the Mountain Communities surrounding Frazier Park.

The smoke, which is significant in areas such as Pine Mountain, is primarily from two fires: the Santa Barbara area fire and the Piute Fire near Lake Isabella. Winds are shifting to bring smoke from both fires into our area.

Local fires will be reported at http://www.MountainEnterprise.com
