Wild Weekend: Safety and Health Fairs Anchor Each End Of the Mountain, with Museum Barn Sale in The Middle

From Lebec to Cuddy Valley to Pine Mountain, this weekend offers a wealth of activies, information and treasures. See the four-page guide in The Mountain Enterprise today about all the services available for your health at the Frazier Mountain Community Health Clinic’s 17th Annual Health Fair this Saturday. The Southwest Health Care District is providing music and transportation. Call 245-3300 to ask about bus tickets.

In Cuddy Valley, the Ridge Route Museum’s Annual Barn Sale is being held on Saturday and Sunday (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday and 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. Sunday) at the Cuddy family’s barn. Watch for the sign on Cuddy Valley Road between Darling and White Rock Roads. "You name it, we have it," Daisy Cuddy laughed, "We have a good exercise bike; all kinds of household goods and furniture and really nice framed pictures. Come have a look around."

The annual Safety Fair hosted by the Pine Mountain Club Emergency Preparedness Committee will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the PMC clubhouse. "Please come to the clubhouse to talk to Smokey Bear, the Kern County Fire Department, National Forest Service, Hall Ambulance, California Highway Patrol, Kern County Sheriff, PMC Patrol and other emergency personnel to find out how you can best be prepared. Refreshments will be served in the Condor Room, so we hope to see you there.

Saturday also hosts the Search and Rescue benefit golf tournament in Taft (see Calendar, page 4). On Sunday, you can enjoy the Fort Tejon Living History Program 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ft. Tejon State Historical Park off Fort Tejon Road and Lebec Road., Lebec. (661) 248-6692.
