Election day to choose the Mountain Communities’ next representative to the Kern County Board of supervisors will be June 3.

A group of local voters, led by Donato Ventura (Lake of the Woods), Barbara Edsall (Frazier Park) and Edie Stafford (Pine Mountain), have kicked their campaign activities into high gear on behalf of candidate Cliff Thompson.

An involved circle of about 30 met with Thompson, Tuesday, April 2 at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center. Thompson is a former mayor and current member of the Taft City Council. He calls himself "the bulldog of Taft," and told several stories about his efforts to represent the needs of his constituents.

Those who attended told of their unmet needs, concerns and priorities. They spoke of county services for public health, transportation and safety, animal control issues, concern regarding the county’s adherence to the Frazier Park/ Lebec Specific Plan and the need for a regional water study.

More election coverage next week.
