Quick Help for Crash

By Patric Hedlund

Emergency vehicles, flashing lights and official personnel filled the parking
lot of the Frazier Park Post Office Saturday, April 5, at about 7:10 p.m. Sarkis
Carboyan, 14 was injured while riding his 2004 Honda CRF dirt bike on the jumps
between the Frazier Park Post Office and the Ridge Route Communities Museum.

His medical situation was stabilized by Kern County Fire Department personnel
and Hall Ambulance paramedics, who provided an IV, braces and transport to Henry
Mayo Hospital.

The youth’s ankle was severely twisted with a compound fracture, broken in
five to six places, according to an interview with his father, Koko Carboyan.
“On Monday three doctors worked to put in plates and screws,” Carboyan said from
his son’s bedside on Tuesday, April 8. Lilian Carboyan confirmed that her son’s
helmet saved him from having a concussion. “I told him, ‘why did you do this?'”
she said, relieved, but still upset about the event.
