(October 5, 2009 at 3:15 p.m.) As she was driving home from the Tejon Mountain Village Board of Supervisors hearing in Bakersfield just before 3 p.m., mountain resident Dawn Beban observed that the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 between Fort Tejon and Lebec were nearly at a standstill with traffic backed up for several miles. She took photos and brought them in to The Mountain Enterprise office with concerns about yet another accident on the busy freeway.

According to Officer Etchebarne of the California Highway Patrol, Fort Tejon Station, there was an accident earlier between a tractor-trailer and a car but it has been cleared from the roadway. Any backup in the northbound lanes is from scheduled construction, he said.
