Ventura County to service Lockwood Valley Rd., Boy Scout Camp Road in preparation for winter

LOCKWOOD VALLEY, CA (October 9, 2013) – The Ventura County Public Works Agency Transportation Department (PWA TD) is prepared to handle snow removal and storm-related road clearing for Lockwood Valley Road and Boy Scout Camp Road for this winter season.
During storms and winter weather, crews will be sent to the Lockwood Valley ahead of storms as needed for road clearing and snow removal. PWA TD equipment operators will use existing equipment already in the Valley, as well as additional equipment that will be stationed in Fillmore as needed.
Further, the PWA TD l has in place an on-call contactor that can be used for snow removal in emergency situations. The agency is purchasing additional snow gear and blade jacks for plow replacement. The crew will use the existing County facilities for equipment parking, communications, and crew support.
Crews will begin training prior to the beginning of the winter weather and during the season; this training will include tire-chain installation and driving in inclement weather.
At elevations above 5,000 feet, the area’s main roads are the northern-most and highest elevation roadways of the County maintained by the PWA TD.
